Education and Training

Dr. Fisher is a native Texan, and grew up in the Dallas area with summers in New York, Michigan, and South Florida. Since the late 1990s she has called Austin home.  Dr. Fisher graduated medical school with honors from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston and moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to complete her training in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, one of the most competitive and rigorous training centers in the United States.

During her plastic surgery training, she did a research fellowship at UCSF and did a Department of Defense funded fellowship in regenerative medicine in which she worked in the the McGowan Institute adipose derived stem cell laboratory to study optimal fat graft harvest and transfer techniques. While in the fellowship and in residency she worked extensively with Dr. Peter Rubin to care for patients undergoing body contouring procedures after massive weight loss. As a resident and chief resident she worked with patients to reconstruct after breast cancer, head and neck cancer, and burn and extremity trauma, using both traditional and microsurgical reconstructive techniques to solve a spectrum of functional and aesthetic problems. She trained in microsurgical perforator flap (DIEP flap) breast reconstruction at Magee-Womens Hospital and studied microsurgical lymph node transfer to treat upper extremity lymphedema with Dr. Corrine Becker in Paris.

Since moving back to Austin in 2013, she founded a surgical practice which has grown to four doctors specializing in complex breast and body surgery including the use of advanced reconstructive techniques for breast cancer patients using perforator flaps, such as DIEP flaps. She was on faculty at Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin and continues to mentor students and aspiring young healthcare providers. Her practice is now focused on aesthetic and restorative surgery of the breast and body. She has worked with some of the visionaries in plastic surgery in internationally recognized centers of excellence in the U.S. as well as in Europe and South America, furthering her study of cutting-edge techniques in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the breast and body. Dr. Fisher is dedicated to providing her patients with the most up-to-date surgical procedures with a focus on safety and beautiful, natural-looking results.
